Charlotte produced the finale of Singapore’s Millennium Chinese New Year celebration, Chingay, working in collaboration with Dr. Annie Sidro and utilizing artists and performers from fourteen countries alongside Singapore’s own native Chinese, Malay, and Indian populations. The goal: to usher in the vision of a new Millennium respectful of all cultures—an innovative type of “nation building” particular to this young, multi-ethnic country.
The live street audience was 250,000 and live TV audience, one million; with international rebroadcasts, the performance was seen by some 33 million viewers over the next two years.
Due to this success, the International Events team was invited to return to Singapore to design and produce the finale of Chingay 2001 and later, to Malaysia to produce the grand opening of the Kuala Lumpur International Buskers’ Festival. Both were televised.
